Afternoon tea at Sheraton Grand Doha

The landmark of Doha, the first five-star hotel, the new upgraded Sheraton Grand Resort and Convention Hotel, Doha is the epitome of luxury and class with elegant spacious interior that resembles and i.door courtyard and the Corniche views to die for. This has been a place which I have seen growing up and the maintenance is at par with any other chain hotels of the world if not more.

I am a big fan of Afternoon tea. There is something that makes me relaxed seeing the beautiful carefully carved little bites of food on the three-tier curate stand. May be its the sight of bite sized desserts that comforts my eye!! I knew it! I am always impressed by the presentation of the food. The afternoon tea treats are plated with attention given to minute detail.

Afternoon tea at Sheraton Grand Doha was not an exception from beauty. The calm and relaxing ambience complemented the experience well. Served in the Atrium lounge everyday from 2:00pm until 6:00pm this is a thing that should not be missed. When I was invited to try the Afternoon tea little did I expect I would be full.

To begin with the food, the scones with clotted cream and jam was absolutely the best. I have never had better scones in Doha and I seriously wanted more of that. I am craving for it now as I write. Those who have had their scones could relate to what I am talking about. I couldn’t wait to capture a good pic of it and the lighting did not favor me either.

The food spread was quiet brief and could easily be shared by two people. To begin with canapes that I liked were the beef roll, cream cheese sandwich, the mango salsa on the bruschetta with prawns and caviar was so good and ham with cheddar one was good as well. The egg sandwich did not meet my expectation and I did not try the smoked salmon.

Desserts was extensive. There was macaroon, pudding, mousse cake, bliss ball, coconut mousse in chocolate shell and a coffee flavored cream filled choux pastry. These were a hit and miss. I liked the mousse cake, coconut mousse cup and the lemon bliss ball. The latter was really good though.

We ordered cold drinks instead of tea as we are not tea fans. My sister ordered a vanilla milkshake which she was not pleased with how it tasted even though it looked really good. I ordered a watermelon mojito and that was quiet good even though I would like it a bit sweeter. It was good with the desserts and the glass was really tall with less ice and more of the mojito itself.

Nonetheless it is a treat to enjoy with great friends over with amazing ambience inside the 5 star hotel with fountains and soft music by the background.

Disclaimer: I was invited as a guest by Sheraton Doha but all opinions are my own.

  1. I love bite sized desserts too. I would have had mine with tea definitely -although I love the look of your very tall glasses. The joys of a 5 star hotel all spread out.

What a fine treat for you and your friends!

  2. The mango salsa and coconut mousse sound amazing. Egg sandwiches are rarely nice anywhere! I too love the miniature aspect of everything at afternoon tea! Cold drinks wouldn’t be an option here as we’re traditionalists in England and do a ‘proper’ afternoon tea (lol!) but it’s nice you get to choose!

  3. The hotel lounge looks beautiful. I have a thing for pretty interiors, makes me feel more relaxed, the ambience is very important. The afternoon tea selection looked delicious, especially the desserts YUM!
