Breakfast Buffet review| Flavours at Movenpick Al Aziziyah

“All happiness depends on a leisurely breakfast”

– John Gunther

When a day starts off as rolling out of bed, starting your car and driving off to a breakfast buffet with your best friend at your favorite hotel chain, I could get very well used to this luxury! Movenpick Al Aziziyah offers an extensive Breakfast Buffet at Flavors Restaurant for QR99 per person until 10:30 am.

As I stayed in another Mövenpick property last month, I had some expectations when I was invited to try the breakfast at Flavors and I am happy to say I was not disappointed at all. The food spread had Arabic breakfast staples such a Foul and Hummus, Cold cuts and different varieties of cheese.

‘Foul’ served in traditional copper pots

The centre of attraction was the live cooking station and apart from making your eggs, Flavors had a live Saj cooking too! I couldn’t hold my excitement in because I seriously love Saj! For those who do not know what Saj is, it is a thin bread with filling ranging from cheese/ labneh to even Nutella and bananas. I ordered a typical Arabic Saj with Zaatar (Middle Eastern thyme) and Cheese and it was delicious. Drenched in olive oil the Saj remained soft and nice until I finished taking pictures of the buffet. And in that joy I forgot to click a picture of it.

The buffet included the classics too! From boiled and scrambled eggs to baked beans, sautéed mushrooms and oatmeal. Interesting additions were spaghetti (Oh how did you know I love spaghetti?), grilled chicken breasts, sausages and fresh Dim Sum. It was my first time trying Dim Sum and I actually loved it. There was quiet a good selection of breads too! The sautéed mushrooms however did not appeal to me. The cereals and organic seeds and nuts are worth mentioning so is the yogurt and muesli.

Dim Sum… Yumm

How can I not talk about the Pastries! While I stayed in Mövenpick Makkah, in Saudi, my main breakfast attention was pastries and I am so happy, it did not end there. The beautiful and freshly prepared in-house pastries at Flavors should never be missed. The doughnuts were my favorite. The pastry cream filled doughnuts were the most satisfying little discs ever. The croissants and Danish pastries were amazing too.

At QR99 per person, this is a place you can enjoy a relaxed and delicious breakfast and catch up with your friends. The ambience and setting are beautiful and so is the staff. Very attentive wearing a smile on their face all the time.
