It was the picture of the big and beautiful chandelier that caught my eye towards wanting to write about the Chinese luxury hospitality, Shangri-la Hotel. Located in the heart of West Bay, just 30 minute away from the Hamad International Airport.
When you enter the hallway, it is spacious and bright unlike many hotels that prefer dark hues. The Chandelier is the most eye catching feature. It weighs around 708 kilograms which is equal to eight giant pandas. And the light from this mighty piece is so warm and lovely. I was escorted by Delphine Darnis, Assistant Communications Manager at Shangri-la Doha to see through the hotel.
Shangri-la Doha has made the hotel in such a stunning manner that when you go along seeing around you feel less of a tower and more of a resort. There are trees and plants wherever you look and this makes you think is it really an almost 50 storey skyscraper. The Horizon Club which is for the VIP guests is 360 degree round club through which you can go around and see different views of West Bay.
The swimming pool area is my ultimate favorite and it is mainly because of the natural environment around it. Located in several floors above the ground, the area is filled with 70 trees. It is absolutely amazing view here. The best thing about the pool bar is it is non-alcoholic. It was a delight to hear that because there is too much alcohol in Doha these days.
The Chi spa, which is a part of exotic Shangri-la hotels worldwide, is a luxurious cozy escape on its own. I highly recommend going to the spa because when you enter the space, you are going to forget all the stress. It has a beautiful earthy smell and have silver and bronze rooms. The foot massage, body massage, sauna, each and every detail is intricately planned and organized. And not forgetting to mention the staff. They are lovely.
The rooms Shangri-la Doha offers are amazing on its own. There is beautiful view from each room and it is spacious too. Let the pictures speak for itself.
When it comes to dining, Shangri-la has some of the most exotic outlets and I am sure you are not going to forget the dining experience ever. ‘Sridan’ is a souq inspired multi cuisine restaurant with live cooking stations and amzing presentations. The properties used to decorate the Sridan is beyond description.
The seafood speciality restaurant is Yabby with beautiful aquarium inside. Everything is connected with sea and sea creatures and it is amazing too.
The Fuego is another outlet where extraordinary Argentanian food is served. For the lively, fun and meat loving foodies, Fuego is the place to be.
Shangri-la Doha is the connecting bridge between China and Doha that has never been seen before. You can see art work of Qatar Talent on the walls. The daily Falcon entertainment is my favorite here.
Do you think you like Shangri-la. Head on and visit the amazing Chinese hospitality.
A view from more than 30 floors above!
